Two teams arrive unbeaten, and they could not be less alike. Spain have conceded once in seven matches — a single Belgian goal in the quarter-final — while suffocating every opponent the draw offered: Portugal in the Iberian derby, Belgium through Merino's 88th-minute dagger, and then France's perfect machine, switched off 2–0 in a semi-final that never looked close. The European champions do not just beat you — they take the ball and never give it back.
Argentina's summer has been the opposite: seven wins, every knockout round a heart attack, and always the same ending. Cape Verde took the champions to extra time. Egypt led them 2–0 and lost to a 90+2 winner. Switzerland's wall held for 112 minutes. And in the semi-final, England led from the 55th minute until Lionel Messi — 39 years old, sixth World Cup — produced two assists in five minutes, the winner again at 90+2. The world champions have made lateness a weapon; no lead against them is safe, ever.
