SenegalNorway 3–2 Senegal: Haaland Double Edges a Five-Goal Thriller
Erling Haaland scored twice and Norway survived a late Senegal rally to win a breathless contest 3–2 at MetLife Stadium and move to six points.
Erling Haaland struck twice as Norway came through a thrilling, end-to-end encounter with Senegal 3–2 at MetLife Stadium, holding their nerve through a frantic finale to make it two wins from two.
Marcus Pedersen gave Norway a 43rd-minute lead, and Haaland doubled it three minutes into the second half, racing onto Martin Ødegaard's pass to finish with his trademark composure.
Haaland the Difference
Senegal responded immediately. Ismaïla Sarr pulled one back on 53 minutes, converting Sadio Mané's assist to set up a grandstand finish. But Haaland restored the two-goal cushion on 58 minutes, his second of the night putting Norway back in control.
Sarr's second deep into stoppage time — a fine finish from Nicolas Jackson's pass — set up an anxious final few moments, but Norway saw it out for a precious three points.
Group I Picture
Norway join France on six points at the top of Group I, both sides now in commanding positions with one game to play. Senegal, beaten despite Sarr's brace, are left pointless and facing an early exit.
