QatarBosnia & Herzegovina 3–1 Qatar: Dragons Win But Sweat on a Lifeline
Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Qatar 3–1 in Seattle to finish third in Group B, leaving their World Cup fate resting on the best third-placed standings.
Bosnia & Herzegovina signed off their group campaign with a 3–1 win over Qatar at Lumen Field in Seattle, but the Dragons were left to sweat on fine margins, finishing third in Group B and dependent on the best third-placed standings to reach the knockouts.
Kerim Alajbegović gave Bosnia an early lead on 29 minutes, finishing Bašić's pass, and the advantage was doubled on 34 minutes when Abunada turned the ball into his own net. Al-Haydos pulled one back for Qatar on 42 minutes, converting Edmílson Júnior's cross, to make it 2–1 at the break.
A Win, and an Anxious Wait
Mahmić's goal on 80 minutes, set up by Hadžikadunić, restored the two-goal cushion and sealed the victory. But with results elsewhere going against them, three points were not quite enough to climb into the automatic places.
Bosnia finish level on four points with Canada but edged out of second on goal difference — leaving them to wait, hopeful but powerless, on how the rest of the groups unfold.
Group B Picture
Bosnia & Herzegovina end the group stage third on four points, in strong position among the third-placed sides but not yet certain of a knockout berth. Qatar, beaten here, finish bottom of the group without a win.
