Rubén Vargas and Johan Manzambi struck early in the second half as Switzerland beat co-hosts Canada 2–1 in Vancouver to top Group B, with both sides through.
Switzerland produced a clinical second-half burst to beat co-hosts Canada 2–1 at a packed BC Place in Vancouver, a result that confirmed top spot in Group B for the Swiss and sealed qualification for both sides.
The first half was a tight, evenly-matched affair, with neither side able to find the breakthrough before the interval.
A Decisive Swiss Spell
Switzerland came out transformed after the break. Rubén Vargas struck within a minute of the restart, finishing Johan Manzambi's pass, and Manzambi turned scorer himself on 57 minutes, converting Breel Embolo's assist to make it 2–0.
Canada, backed by a fervent home crowd, refused to fold. David pulled one back on 76 minutes from Niko Saliba's pass to set up a tense finale, but Switzerland held firm to claim the win and the group.

Switzerland finish top of Group B on seven points, with Canada qualifying in second on goal difference — a memorable milestone for the co-hosts in front of their own fans. Both advance to the Round of 32.
