HaitiMorocco 4–2 Haiti: Atlas Lions Fight Back Twice to Reach the Round of 32
Haiti twice took the lead but Morocco responded each time and pulled away late to win a six-goal thriller 4–2 in Atlanta, securing their place in the knockouts.
Morocco needed all of their resolve to overcome a spirited Haiti 4–2 in a breathless contest at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, recovering from two deficits before pulling away late to seal their place in the Round of 32.
It began badly for the Atlas Lions. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou turned the ball into his own net on 10 minutes to hand Haiti a shock lead. Achraf Hakimi levelled on 39 minutes, only for Wilson Isidor to restore Haiti's advantage three minutes later. Ismael Saibari hauled Morocco back on the stroke of half-time to make it 2–2.
Rahimi and Yassine Settle It
Morocco took control after the break. Soufiane Rahimi put them ahead for the first time on 78 minutes, converting Chadi Riad's pass, and Gessime Yassine wrapped up the win on 89 minutes from Rahimi's assist.
It was far from comfortable, but Morocco — semi-finalists at Qatar 2022 and standard-bearers for Arab and African football — found a way, as the best sides so often do.
Group C Picture
Victory takes Morocco to seven points, level with Brazil at the top of Group C and through to the knockout stage. Haiti, brave but beaten, finish bottom of the group having lost all three matches.
